DIPTERA, Blepharoceridae--  <Images> & <Juveniles>

 

          Members of this family are largely or entirely aquatic in habit.  The larvae feed in part on minute organisms such as diatoms and on small Crustacea.  Adults feed extensively on midges and other small, soft-bodied insects.
