Graduate Students

Shuheng Zhao, szhao003@student,ucr.edu
B.S., California State University, San Marcos, 2004
My research interests include cognitive development and culture study. More specifically, my research focuses on how does understanding of intentionality help parents facilitate children's learning during collaborative work. I currently work with my advisor Dr. Gauvain on a project that examines whether shared intention between parent and child during a collaborative planning task helps the child to do better in a post-planning task. It is great to work with Dr. Gauvain because she provides good guidance for me in learning about research, as well as good training for me to be a successful graduate student.

Heidi Beebe, hbeeb001@student.ucr.edu
B.A., University of Illinois, Chicago, 2006
My research interests focus on culture and cognitive processes and understanding the relationships between the two. I would like to see what role culture plays in influencing individuals' developmental processes. One of my goals is to incorporate field work into my research which will give researchers a more representative picture of human cognition and how it adapts to a variety of environments and ways of life.
