NEUROPTERA, Myiodactylidae --  Images & <Juveniles>

[This group is generally included in the Nymphidae]

Clausen (1940) noted this as a separate family of Neuroptera, with only a few genera and species that were restricted to the Australian region and some South Pacific islands.

Larvae of Osmylops pallidus Banks are rather circular in outline, and bear conspicuous mandibles.  They inhabit the underside of eucalyptus leaves where they prey on other insects (see Clausen 1940 for diagram).
