Woden's magic spear (Old Norse Gungnir), a petroglyph located about
18 feet west of the main sun-god figure at Peterborough, Ontario. It served as a model for numerous very
large copies made by Algonquian carvers in later eras. The spelling suggests that the ancient
pronunciation of this word may have been ungungnir. |
