Sculptures have been found by chance in the region where megalithic

chambers and dolmens occur in America.  This head was discovered at

Searsmont, Maine, executed in bedrock.  It is on display at the Sturbridge

Museum, MA.  It seems to depict someone of Scandanavian or Irish descent,

as the artistic style (curving nost-rils, staring eyes, chaplet of bog oak with

acorn) all attest.  (Photo Malcolm Pearson) (Fell 1982).
