This Petroglyph at the Milk River, near Coutts, southern Alberta,

Canada, may depict a divination ceremony.

The text reads: Mal Freya gad (using g for k)

= "Freya gives utterance: the spiked staff."

The priestess of Freya served as her medium and, when conducting

divination, wore a special headdress and carried a special staff (Fell 1982).
