The global dissemination of commercial products continues to favor accidental invasions of agricultural, urban and medical pests to areas where natural controls may be inadequate.  The search and importation of harmless biological control agents are often required when chemical or cultural controls are ineffective.  Following is a list of harmful or annoying arrivals in California and other world sites that may require seeking natural control agents.  Some of those invaders noted here have already been studied for biological control or they may have broken away from previously successful natural enemies due to changes in the environment or pest management.
